Daily from Sun., November 16 until Sun., November 23Each year, New Italian Cinema celebrates the rich cinematic tradition of Italy and brings the country's boldest directors and films to audiences in San Francisco. Join the San Francisco Film Society––and the many filmmakers who will be present––for this eight-day feast of cinematic delicacies.Running November 16-23, the 2008 edition opens with Paolo Virzì's Napolean (and Me), features seven films by up-and-coming filmmakers in competition for the prestigious City of Florence Award, two classic Virzì films and closes with screenings of two of Italy's highest profile films of the year: Paolo Bevenuti's Puccini and the Girl and Matteo Garrone's Gomorrah. All screenings are at Landmark's Embarcadero Center Cinema.

Fri., December 5, 9:00pmSure to be a frenetic night of visual and musical bliss, the San Francisco Film Society’s SF360 Film+Club will feature three artists renowned for their dizzying uses of popular culture.Mike Relm is a pioneering mash-up DJ who is equally inventive with the live, real-time mixing of video imagery. With his new studio album Spectacle—coming fresh on the heels of the groundbreaking DVD Clown Alley—the question becomes, What can’t Relm do? Clearly, there is very little he won’t take on, as you will see in this breathtaking live show.
Paired with Relm is Peanut Butter Wolf, an equally unique talent. PBW’s track record of working with and finding the most innovative names in the music business (Kool Keith, Cut Chemist, Madlib) speaks for itself. Lately PBW has turned to VJing with an emphasis on classic and rare hip-hop fare.
Opening is Club Bootie resident DJ Party Ben. Like Relm, Ben mashes together the sounds and images of pop culture with an astounding sense of what’s popular and a keen ear and eye for fun.
This is a can't-miss party that will present some of the most innovative mixing techniques currently in play. This special edition of Film+Club will have a later than usual start time.
