Sister Act

Anyone who only knows the Watson Twins from Jenny Lewis' Rabbit Fur Coat is seriously missing out. The sisters' debut, Fire Songs, is a breathy journey through genres. In the first three songs alone, Chandra and Leigh assay funk, country, and pop with a homespun mellowness. Despite some gothic tinges, the disc is too pretty to be a downer, and the tiptoed cover of the Cure's "Just Like Heaven" transcends novelty to emerge as a heart-melting gem.
